The number one priority for me while building a company has been to create culture. It’s what drives me as a CEO and what makes me excited to get up in the morning. Last Tuesday, the 6sense team had an amazing opportunity to come together in support of the Mama Hope Third Annual Silver and Gold Holiday Party and help exceed its fundraising goal to aid current education projects in Tanzania. Nyla Rodgers, founder of Mama Hope, has a similar dedication to raising money as that of a Silicon Valley CEO or VC… but her motivation is changing lives, not making a profit.
Mama Hope recognizes the critical need to build sustainable communities in developing countries. To do this, Mama Hope focuses on fostering entrepreneurs and trains global advocates who help raise money and implement projects to address extreme poverty in African communities. I first heard about Mama Hope, I was so drawn to Nyla’s story and felt compelled to become involved not only personally, but with my entire 6sense family. As a team, we aligned our efforts with Mama Hope’s advocacy program to simultaneously quadruple donations and instill an enduring culture at 6sense of giving back to the local and global community.
By allowing our 6sensors the opportunity to care about the world together and become passionate about effecting lasting change, I truly believe we’re creating a new kind of Silicon Valley company. For me, culture is about having people driven by the same vision and mission and caring about the people around them first… from our customers to our prospects to our community to the world.
The universe has blessed me with an incredible opportunity and a talented team and I’m so grateful for the chance to give back. With support from the 6sense team and Mama Hope’s global advocates, last week’s benefit raised $40,347 with 100 percent of the proceeds going directly to their efforts in Africa.
I’m confident that 6sense has a greater purpose beyond building a predictive intelligence platform. We want to redefine success in business so that all companies compete to not only be the best in the world but also the best for the world. We encourage 6sensors’ to focus on others before themselves both at work and in society as a whole. Our support of Mama Hope exemplifies who 6sense is and what we stand for.
Working together to effect change is not only good for the world, but it is critical for creating a lasting company culture.
